Athletes, Your Body is an Investment
If you’re an athlete, your body pays the bills. Like the hands of a craftsman, or the voice of a singer, the artist's asset is his or her body. Your body, properly taken care of - can continue to sustain you - or start weighing you down.
As a triathlon coach for 12+ years, I recognize firsthand the need for athletes to re-invest in their bodies. A car needs gas and oil changes to run. Similarly, the human body needs the right fuel, treatment, and maintenance to “keep on truckin’.”
Famous Athletes’ Body Maintenance
LeBron James reportedly spends $1.5 million dollars a year keeping his body in shape. Treatments the basketball icon uses include cryotherapy and hyperbaric chambers. He also has personal chefs, trainers and spas. Lebron continues to invest in his body so he can still dominate on the court.

Study confirms improved performance in endurance sports through acupuncture
In 2010,German sports medicine publication Sportverletzung Sportschaden conducted a clinical trial experiment to test the efficacy of acupuncture.
The field test observed three groups of runners of different performance levels preparing for a marathon. The first group was given acupuncture, the second a placebo, and the third was a control group.
After their maximum pulse rates were recorded, the runners were asked to run 5000m four times in 4 weeks at 75 % of their maximum pulse rate. Their pulse rates were measured for each runner at the finish of the run, and subsequently, one, two and five minutes after the run. Based on these data, the complexity factor (running time multiplied by the respective pulse rate) was calculated for all four recorded pulse rates for each run and each runner.
All groups showed statistically significant enhancements in their running times and their complexity factors, but in the case of the runners treated with acupuncture, the improvements were highly significant.
Re-invest Back in the Business
Whether you’re a long distance runner, cyclist, or swimmer, we all share a desire to perform at our best. Athletic performance is predicated on you coming to the game, the race, or the competition ready to do battle.
Here’s another example: Just like a business owner invests in marketing for their business, through the purchase of advertising, business cards, and social media so do you as an athlete make a conscious choice to re-invest back in the business.
